During lockdown Shakespeare Sinfonia has worked with a number of non-professional artistic organisations delivering large and small scale projects offering on-line coaching, tuition, sound and video editing, click tracks for rehearsal an practice and even conducting.
Our aim is always to work collaboratively, sharing ideas and possibilities and helping others to achieve their best.
The Enigma Variations – Nimrod
Like many arts organisations Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra has been unable to rehearse or perform since March 2020 so Artistic Director David Curtis and Declan Birchall – Audio Producer worked with the CSO to create an on-line performance of Nimrod from Elgar’s Enigma Variations. David and Declan created a click-track for David to conduct and players to rehearse and record with.

Da Capo Orchestra & Travel offers musicians from around the world opportunities to play at an advanced level while enjoying holidays in relaxing and inviting places in Southern Europe. They combine the comforts of Mediterranean life with their essential mission: bringing together people who share a passion for music plus excellent food.
Sadly this year many of their projects have been cancelled but working with Shakespeare Sinfonia, Symphonic Holidays created a unique performance of part of Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Nights’ Dream music. Musicians from Europe, Australia, the USA, the Far East and Europe came together under the baton of David Curtis for this on-line performance, first streamed on Sunday, 21 June, Midsummers Day and the day of the French Fête de la Musique:
Edward Scissorhands and The Great Escape
The Film Orchestra (TFO) is a UK based amateur orchestra for musicians with a passion for performing music for film and TV. It brings together musicians from across the generations to play exciting and challenging music in a sociable environment. The Film Orchestra attracted a much greater interest than anticipated from film music buffs of all ages and abilities and has drawn enquiries from across the UK and indeed across the world.
Working with Artistic Director David Curtis and Declan Birchall – Audio Producer, the Film Orchestra performs the theme from Edward Scissorhands as part of the Making Music Virtual Concert Series with an introduction from Rob Guest, Making Music Trustee starting at 4’ 50”

The People’s Orchestra performed in the Commonwealth Games Handover to a global TV audience, enjoyed an exchange trip to Montreal, Canada, and performed at the international Tolkien Society’s 50th Anniversary celebrations in Birmingham and is now planning larger events and performances in the run up to the Commonwealth Games in 2022, which are being held in Birmingham. TPO has been fortunate enough to work with renowned film composer John Koutselinis who composed War of the Titans theme for the orchestra. During lockdown Shakespeare Sinfonia Artistic Director David Curtis worked with the orchestra and conducted this spectacular on-line performance:
